The vision of the Governors of the Portfields School is:
To give each child the best preparation for life in a changing environment, instilling in them the values for continual learning, tolerance and respect for self and others.
To achieve this vision the following are
the principles which will be followed:
The School will promote and provide equal opportunity of education for all, regardless of gender, race, background, culture, belief and ability.
The needs of the children will always be of primary importance in making all decisions regarding the management of the School and its resources.
The School will employ the best quality staff and provide opportunity for continuing professional development.
The education of the children is a responsibility shared between the School and the parents. The school will encourage and support parents to fulfill this shared responsibility and remain approachable and open for consultation.
The curriculum will be balanced, broad-based and
differentiated
to meet individual needs.
It will be
reviewed regularly to anticipate and respond to
developments in attitudes and values in society.
The School will provide a stimulating and challenging environment in which active learning will take place.
The health, safety and security of the children will be of paramount importance.
Discipline will be fair and consistent with no tolerance of bullying within the School community.
The School will be responsive to concerns raised by all and will create an environment where all parties are comfortable
to share their feelings.
Through constant monitoring and evaluation, the School will strive to to recognise the needs of all children and to stretch their horizons to maximise their potential.
